In Jan 2015 we enrolled our son for his AICE diploma at Lonehill Academy. The school never entered him for this award. This only came to our attention in October 2015. The school had called in another student, in June, to advise them to take an extra subject so they could get their IGCSE diploma. They never called my son in to advise him, if they had he would've told them that as far as he was concerned he is already enrolled for the AICE diploma. The school has now billed us for the late entry fee (GBP88.50). I told the principal (director) that I am NOT paying for his school's admin error and he informed me that if I don't pay the late entry fee he will withhold my son's diploma.
I subsequently found out (as usually happens) that there have been many instances of bullying by the principal. Where even siblings results have been withheld. The parents are too scared to confront the principal as he then victimises the students. As with my son. One example being; He was going to film the school's year end play (he is an amazing photographer and editor) and after I had said I wasn't going to pay for their admin oversight, he told the director of the play that my son is not, under any circumstances, allowed to film the play. How immature!
We paid huge school fees every month and have had to get tutors in privately as the school couldn't assist my son with his AS and A levels.
This has been a stressful year at this school. An expensive mistake. I hope I have shed some light on your decision making process.
