Founded in 1902, Pretoria High School for Girls has a proud and long tradition of providing top quality education. The founding Headmistress, Miss Edith Aitken, gave the school the motto Prosit Spes Labori – We Work in Hope. The school is led by the 9th Headmistress, Mrs Penny McNair who firmly believes in equal opportunity all around and ensures that this takes place. We believe that our strength lies in drawing learners from diverse backgrounds. All of the girls are given the means to be involved and succeed in all spheres, be they academic, cultural, sport or service. The school environment is well structured to provide for the optimum development of each girl into a responsible adult with sound values.

I recently had the opportunity to see Pretoria Girls High School U/16 and U/18 hockey teams play.

The touring school girls were unified, synchronised and supportive of each other. It is lovely to see so many young girls establishing themselves in South African school hockey.

I wish you the best on your hockey session of 2016.
